Oh well. Started working on a new game about 11 month ago. Pretty cool game and all, but it was for the Sony PSP, a console that could have been a mighty fine machine... if Sony wasn't stupid. So, I had the feeling from the beginning that PSP wouldn't be worth developing for much longer, but as usual the dudes in charge thinks otherwise. Now, 3 months before the release of our game, the dudes suddenly realize that the PSP ain't worth it. So, game canned, right before it's finished. As usual... 11 months work thrown away... again. Been in the stinkin' game biz for more than 6 years now, and almost 4 years of that hard work has been thrown away. Starting to loose my motivation...among other things...
Anyway, new game is up, this time for the Nintendo Wii. So, cool console at least. Too bad the game is based on THE crappiest license I ever saw... just hope the dudes in charge realize that sooner rather than later.
On the personal art front, not much new. Working a little on some old projects, and trying out some new software. It's not easy, since I feel I've fallen behind a few years. My skills ain't what that should be, and that's no fun at all when one is a perfectionist.

and what software are you trying out now? I hope that sometime this year I will finally get back to learning 3d, I think by now my 2d skills have improved a bit, so perhaps I can learn some 3d to get into 2.5D matte painting!

" I swear to god snake, I thought you were dead... "
I found my only way to not get irrate with them is to keep my own personal projects going in the background.
I ussually don't agree with the screwball decisions these places make on their projects anyways, so having something that is totally mine and that can't be ruined by a foolish editor or head publisher keeps me sane. ha
Keep on plug'in along man, all ya can do.

Been learning myself XSI lately, made the move from Lightwave. Doing OK, love XSI, but the reason I left Lightwave in the first place is exactly the thing I miss is XSI now.
2.5D is the way to go! I wanna learn more 2D as well, since the less 3D i have in my images, the better they turn out. Plus, it's faster and more fun with 2D!
yeah, I find 2.5D very impressive, really, when I see how they camera map those matte paintings and animate them. and it saves a lot of render time, really. so far I just wanted to concentrate on 2D, because I think that I should be decent at that first, before I get into 3D
what were you missing in lightwave?
